What is Branded Content?

Branded Content is a trendy term in today’s marketing world but what is really all about?

Branded content can have lots of meaning in context but at its core it is a style of marketing that builds brand awareness by focuses on a brand’s and customer’s shared values. Branded content is the opposite of common marketing technics that simply discuss services and product specs; but rather discusses the deeper WHY behind a product or brand.

Branded content is not a new concept it has been around since John Deer created “The Furrow” in 1897. It was a simple magazine for farmers that just happened to feature some John Deer products *wink wink*.

Should We Care About Branded Content?

Even though branded content has been around for well over a century it has taken on a new life in the digital world we run our businesses in today and for good reason. You see the digital age has given birth to a massive influx of new marketing technics so much so that it is next to impossible to do anything without seeing marketing.

You Watch YouTube, boom – commercials.
Search on Google, bang – sponsored results.
Scroll on Instagram, bam – sponsored ads.

So, in 2022, more and more customers are getting really good at ignoring sponsorships and advertisements especially as we look at gen-z and young millennials. In fact more than 27% of all internet users have an ad blocker installed, so they won’t even see advertisements you are paying for. This trend is expected to continue to skyrocket in 2022 with the new Apple IOS 15 “tracking” updates.

Why branded Content?

With this distrust and distaste of explicit advertising as left business owners and marketing professionals looking for an alternative. Branded content is all about creating a way to reach customers without advertising feeling shoved in their faces.

What does Branded Content Look Like?

The nature of branded content truly allows it be flexible enough to fit any brand. Short form branded content can be as simple as TikTok, Recipes, Tutorials, or Reviews. Long form content can be a web series, courses, or even films. You can see some example of branded content we have done HERE.
